Welcome to Nottingham Veterinary Society (VetSoc)!

I'm Will, your president for 2017-18. I oversee the running of the society, ensuring your society meets your expectations. In the coming year I hope to build on the success of last year with more fundraising, socials and clinical activities. Feel free to contact me directly with any queries or ideas you have for VetSoc - I would be more than happy to speak with you! I am really keen to encourage vet students to make the most of university life alongside the academic side of vet school and I am hoping to make activities more accessible for all students.

VetSoc aims to create greatest overall experience for vet students, the best 5/6 years of your life. We are the largest and most active society on campus. It is now official - last year we were awarded Gold status as a society, the highest accolade possible. We run a huge array of social, charity and academic events, which are exclusive or discounted to our members.

VetSoc Members’ Events 2017/18… Wild West Ceilidh, BVLV Hog-Roast, Robin Hood Run,  Ward Round Bar Crawl, AVS Sports Weekend, Vet Ball 2017, AVS Congress, NEVS Equine Symposium, Medics and UP inter-society socials, SB Tough Farmer, Boat Party… The list is endless.

Our clinical club hosts a captivating collection of lectures and practicals. These cover specialist subjects, specific to your species interests and delivered by leading vets. In addition there is usually a food feast, often involving free pizza.

Members of Nottingham VetSoc automatically become members of the Association of Veterinary Students (AVS), which allows you to attend the infamous AVS Sports Weekend.

There are many benefits of membership to our society which we hope to highlight in this booklet. Almost every student within the vet school is a member (a no brainer!), so make sure you don’t miss out on all the fun our community has to offer.
